The Spanish Cuisine Of Spain - 980 Words

The culture of Spain is very diverse and lively. It is filled with beautiful colors like the dresses of the Flamenco dancers, or the decorations in the late-night fiestas. Last year my school had a foreign exchange student from a little island off the coast of Spain. Her name was Marà a. She told us all about the crystal blue water that surrounded her island, and the fiestas her and her friends and family would go to until 3 A.M. Spain is a beautiful country, and this paper will explain its most important habits, customs, and differences to American culture. The Spanish cuisine is a mystery in itself. Not only does the food differ from American cuisine, but also the customs of when it is eaten. Most of the literature we talked about was poetry, prose, or drama. For one of our units my teacher made us write out o ur own fairytale, and we had to read it to the class. One of my favorite websites I found for information was commisceo-global, and they explained the cultural aspects of Spain. 94% of Spaniards are Roman Catholic, and usually in many small towns, the biggest, grandest building in the town is the church. Also, most holidays were created for religious reasons, like Three King’s Day (January 6) or Holy Week (late March-early April). When Marà a was in Minnesota she did not go to church on Sundays, but she still participated in our local youth group. The next cultural aspect this website focused on was family and gender. It explained that most families consisted of immediate and extended, which helps with financial stability and raising children. Children were also one of the topics focused on. They say that children were the prized possessions of the families. They usually started school around 6 and went to school until they were 16. After school, they could either join the workforce, further their educations in high school, or do vocational training. Adult men and women had their own roles while their children were in school. Question: Discuss about the Analysis Of Atlassian Strategic Management. Answer: Introduction Atlassian is an Australian software company, incorporated in 2002. The company was founded by Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes while they were students at University of New South Wales, situated in Sydney. The enterprise financed on a ten thousand dollar credit card debt. The founders of the organisation believed that creating great software, pricing it correctly and putting it on the internet to download, will automatically attract customers. The firm has no sales force in their beginning, the founders work on this belief that if their customers liked their products then they will tell their friends and family about it. Atlassian operated in the software industry, and they create products for software development, project supervision, and content administration. The products of the organisation include JIRA, Hipchat, Trello, and Confluence. The companys team collaboration software helps corporations in arranging, discussing and finishing shared work. The form has more than five million active users in a month. The corporation has more than 37000 clients including large companies, such as Coca-Cola, NASA, Facebook, eBay, and Netflix. The enterprise was a quick success after earning one million dollars in its first year of business. The firms revenue has grown up to AU$149 million in 2006 financial year. The founders were named entrepreneurs of the year by Ernst Young company. This report will discuss and analyse the strategies of the organisation. Industry Atlassian operated in the software industry, consist of creating, maintaining and publishing of software services and products used by various organisations. According to the research of Gartner (2016), the worldwide expenditure in information technology (including software, hardware, telecommunication, and services) will reach US$3.5 trillion in 2017. The industry of information technology changes rapidly, with customers demanding greater quality, lower costs, improved facilities and more innovations. The constant change and high demand have created several problems for software services and corporate models. The organisations cannot depend on simple strategies, and finding new methods for revenue are necessary for their success. The corporations are facing difficulty in maintaining their financial performance and facing constant competition from well-funded start-ups (Ojala 2007). The giant players, such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard, eBay, and Symantec, are finding new corporate models to be more elastic in operations and supplying better products and services according to the customers demands. The companies are required to widen their revenue streams in order for their long-term survival in the software industry. The enterprises are in a significantly delicate position where a few financial mistakes could disappoint their shareholders and reduce their market capitalisation. Traditional business models are focused on cost-cutting in the organisation but tech firms require beating their competition in modern technologies, such as cloud computing, cyber safety, and information analytics (Pino 2008). Five Forces Analysis Understanding of the five factors assists a firm to recognise the framework of its industry and find the place that is highly beneficial and less endangered to undertake. The firm should not concentrate on removing its competition because that could attract new competition and criticism from consumers (Carlson 2017). Following are the five forces that should be analysed by a corporation: Negotiating Control of Buyers The bargaining power of customers is linked to the level of ease or struggle with which customer can change the companies. Traditionally the bargaining power of the customers in software industry was low, due to the high cost of switching. But in modern times, new models of monthly subscriptions have lowered the switching cost for buyers. Therefore, the negotiation power of buyers in the Australian software industry is medium. Negotiating Control of Sellers The bargaining power of suppliers in the software industry is high. The competition between tech companies is high due to increase in demand for highly skilled employees. Therefore, the suppliers or employees have a high power of bargaining their prices or salary and incentives packages. Industry Substitute Threat The threat for alternatives in the software industry is medium. The software industry has grown and there is numerous organisations software solutions present in the industry. The basic tools of Microsoft such as Word and Excel are available in the market, particularly for the medium and small organisations. New Competitions The threat of new competition in the software industry is medium. In the industry, it is easy to enter with a low initial capital for start-ups, but it is hard for companies to create a profitable product. Conflict between Competitors In the software industry, the competition between companies is significantly high. As the industry grows, the market has been filled with new enterprises, therefore increasing the competition. Figure 1: Five Forces (Source: Dudovskiy, 2012) Macro Environmental Factors Atlassian can study the market before creating future strategys to enhance their profits. The evaluation of external factors is necessary to ascertain the requirement and desires of the customers (Bernroider 2002). Following items are included in the external environment of an organisation: Government Regulations: The policies and regulation created by the government have a direct impact on the business of tech companies. The government involvement is necessary to avoid danger to public interest such as cyber crimes or hacking. Technology: The technology market changes rapidly and in order to stay ahead of their competition, the companies are required to adopt new technologies such as cloud computing, cyber safety, and information analytics. Customers: Atlassian serves more than 37000 customers, including 291 of fortune 500 companies. The company fulfils software need of teams by their products such as JIRA. Globalisation: There are several new foreign organisations in Australian software markets which increase the competition between software companies. The globalisation increases the necessity of quick adoption of the latest technologies in the software companies. Economic Factors: The factors, such as slow growth in the economy of Australia, enhancing unemployment rate, affect the growth of the software companies as well. Analysis of Competition The key factors of success of software companies are: the ability of product, elasticity, the cost of products, simplicity in usage and access, the performance of products, the satisfaction of customers and worldwide reach of the company. Atlassian competition has been divided into three categories, based on customers and products: Information technology and facility teams, software and mechanical group, and corporate group. The competition of Atlassian includes Salesforce, Workday, Box, HubSpot, ServiceNow and various other small software traders such as Slack and GitHub. Many of these companies include small start-ups businesses, but the majority is an organisation in acquisition business, engaging in the takeover of different firms to provide customers a one-stop shop solution (Mahroum 2016). The tiny companies can have a high impact on the industry, if acquired by tech giants, to make a competitive contribution. Atlassian product JIRA has been a success in the market and companys recent acquisition Trello, free online teamwork software directed at the corporate teams is allowing the company to increase their position in the software industry. With the growth of the industry, low-cost competition will begin, but the teamwork software industry is expected to increase in profits. Business Strategy Atlassian has a significantly different business approach, compare to its competitor companies. The collaborative tool company has been profitable for last 12 year and attracting a significant amount of revenue. The firms generated AU$ 200 million in profits and their sale raises more than 40 percent annually in past five years. The organisation has a net worth of $3.3 billion and more than 37000 clients use the products of the enterprise. Atlassian did not have a sales team and spends just 15 to 20 percent of their profits on sales and marketing. Instead of hiring a sales team, the company focuses on making their products low-cost and easy to install from the web (Zalan 2009). Following are the values of the company: Transparency in the company Create everything with heart and passion Customers are the essence and company should think from customers perspective Team work is most important Become the change you want in the world Figure 2: Atlassian Values (Source: Atlassian, 2017) Corporate strategy Atlassian applies a separate corporate approach than other tech companies. The company had never taken any funding from venture capitalists, while other organisations strive to acquire funding for their enterprises. The company has started with ten thousand Australian dollar credit card debt from its founders. The organisation does have acquired funding from Accel and T.Rowe Price of $60 million and $150 million respectively, but not for the operations of the company. The money was taken to deliver liquidity to the employees of the organisation. This decision of founders affected the growth of the business since the company focuses more on increasing their customers instead of making money (Lew 2012). The organisation imposes a permanent authorisation fee with continuing maintenance of 50 percent each year. The faster-growing client should see their bills rising from ten thousand dollars in the first year to fifty thousand dollars in the second year. Several of the clients have seen this type of growth with the company. The enterprise has invested $67.9 million in sales and advertising at the start of 2015. This amount is equal to 21 percent of total income of the firm that is $319.5 million. Without any debt, the company could focus on their organisational objectives and provide better work environment to their employees (Solomon 2015). Figure 3: Atlassian Model (Source: TechRepublic, 2017) Strategic Leadership Evident The founders of the company Scott Farquhar and Mike Cannon-Brookes believe in creating great products and providing it easily to their audience. The company did not have any sales team. The organisation invests less than 21 percent of their revenue in sales and marketing. The values of the company consist of providing a great product, thinking from customers perspective and providing better work environment to their employees. The enterprise has been started with a ten thousand Australian dollar credit card debt, by the founders of the company, since then the firm has not taken any money from venture capitalists (Swan 2010). Atlassians strategies are different from other companies in the same industry. But despite all the differences, the company has found enormous success and growth. The organisation has been profitable for previous 12 years and the company has earned revenue of AU$619.9 million in the half year of 2017. Atlassian has topped BRWs Best Places to Work list, for straight two years in a row (in 2014 2015). The company provides various benefits to their employees such as paid parental leaves, free snacks, fitness training and free transportations. Atlassian has entered the United States market and reached a valuation of AU$8 billion. The founders of the firms are ranked in 20 wealthiest Australians. The company has grown slowly by steadily, and with the help of unique strategies of its founders (Millar 2017). SWOT Analysis Strengths Unique culture in the company, providing high values to customers and employees. No debts from venture capitalists. Skilled workforce Financial support provided Significantly high growth rate Existing distribution and trades systems Weakness The rapid growth of company causing the constant growth of employees. More than two third (majority) of their revenue is from JIRM and Confluence. The organisation has customer self-service model. Several customers prefer traditional sales methods. Lack of business experience of its founders. Opportunities The company can invest more i9n research and development since their sales and marketing costs are low. The organisation can expand their business in other countries markets. The enterprise has higher revenue compared to their competitors because of their unique structure. Threats Change in government regulations Increase in Labor costs Change in price of software products Technology problems Current Position of the Company Atlassian has more than five million active users in a month. The corporation has more than 37000 clients including large companies, such as Salesforce, Workday, Box, HubSpot, ServiceNow and various other small software traders such as Slack and GitHub. The company has earned revenue of AU$619.9 million in the half year of 2017. The firms generated AU$ 200 million in profits and their sale raises more than 40 percent annually in past five years. The organisation has a net worth of $3.3 billion. More than two third of their revenue is from JIRA and Confluence (Fisher 2013). The organisation provides high value to their customers and employees. The company had managed to increase their clients more than 37000 without investing in a sales force. The company faces new challenges from the competition of low-cost software companies and technological changes in the industry. The organisation is expanding their business outside Australian markets as well (Davila 2015). Figure 4: Position of Atlassian (Source: Ronen, 2015) Conclusion The above study concluded that Atlassian has adopted unique strategies in their organisation by providing more value to customers and employees. The organisation has found huge success in previous 12 years, and they are growing rapidly. The company is under no pressure of some outside board to achieve certain growth targets. The organisation can think long term because it has no commitment to venture capitalists. The major challenge of Atlassian is to innovate at a larger scale. The best path for Atlassian is to expand their market share in countries such as Sweden, Ireland, India and China. This expansion could increase the revenue of the company and it will bring them closer to achieving their goals. References Atlassian., 2017.Company values | Atlassian. The Case Agaisnt The Death Pen Essay free essay sample

, Research Paper Crumley English 112 17 Sep 00 The Case Against Death Punishment This article was written by Eric M. Freedman, and was printed in the USA Today, magazine in March of 1997. Let us get down right at that place with Mr. Freedman. Since this article appeared in the USA Today I assumed that this adult male was likely one that knew what he was speaking about and likely good respected among his equals. He is a professor at Hofstra University School of Law where he teaches Constitutional Law and the Death Penalty. He has addressed many panels of attorneies, prosecuting officers, Judgess and even Congress about the decease punishment. He graduated from Yale University and is a outstanding First Amendment combatant. Now, after all that research I assumed that what I was approximately to read was traveling to be some cold difficult facts about capital penalty. After all he appears to be highly good versed about the Constitution and the decease punishment. Since I discovered that he was a professor at Hofstra University I decided to make a rebuff background cheque on that peculiar school because I had personally neer heard of Hofstra. Come to happen out Hofstra University, harmonizing to US NEWS, is ranked figure two in the state when it comes to jurisprudence. Hofstra is presently ranked between Yale, which is ranked first, and Harvard, which is graded 3rd. Following that information that I discovered I automatically presumed that Mr. Freedman was most decidedly a qualified adult male and non merely some extremist who opposed the decease punishment. Continuing on with the analysis I figured I would interrupt down the rubric. The Case Against the Death Punishment can merely be seen a few ways in my book. I thought every bit shortly as Crumley 2 I saw the rubric that this individual was composing as an opposition of the decease punishment. I farther assumed to turn out his point that he was traveling to hold a batch of statistics to assist endorse his point. Which for me meant that I was traveling to hold to make more research to assist interrupt this essay a portion. Anyhow, right as I began reading this article I started to hold uncertainties in Mr. Freedman. In the really first paragraph he states Harmonizing to critics ( USA Today, pg 48 ) and does non call any of them. Who are these supposed critics? They could be anybody. They could be a whole commission of oppositions of the decease punishment, who furthermore merely show findings that they agree with. So, I as a reader, have no thought except for the fact that it was a group of so called critics. Then straight after the first paragraph he says that in September of 1995, the province of New York re-instituted the decease punishment and that this lone meant that New Yorkers will acquire less offense control than they had before. ( USA Today, pg 48 ) Well I decided to make a shade bit more digging and discovered that, harmonizing to the 1992 and 1997 FBI Uniform Crime Report for the New York State country, since 1992 serious offense had declined some 33 % . What I besides found was that the slaying rate was down and violent offense was down 39 % and 32 % severally. Now, after turn outing that one incorrect my assurance in Mr. Freedman was dropping quickly. However, I decided to give him the benefit of the uncertainty and said that we all can do errors. Following I discovered his chief intent for composing this article in the first sentence of the 3rd paragraph. And he supports this statement with the grounds of the decease punishment s tremendous cost, a hurt to public safety, it does non cut down offense, is racially Crumley 3 discriminatory, and will finally be inflicted on the inexperienced person. That merely happened to give me a batch more ammo to lb this article. The following point that Freedman attempts to do is that the decease punishment does non cut down offense. What he does non state you is that the decease punishment is non designed to cut down offense. The decease punishment is a signifier of penalty designed to dispose of highly violent felons. Freedman of class so moves to back up this thought with the fact that between 1975 and 1985 twice as many constabularies officers were killed in decease punishment provinces as no decease punishment provinces. Once once more Freedman has tried to take the reader astray. He does non state you that those provinces with the decease punishment have higher offense rates because they are 1s with really big metropoliss, such as New York, Chicago and Detroit. What he besides does non state you is that during the 1980 s offense was up countrywide harmonizing to the FBI Uniform Crime Report. Following Freedman uses a justice in Harris County, Texas to do a point. Freedman points out that 10 % of all executings since 1976 have taken topographic point in this peculiar county legal power. He so uses a quotation mark from this justice to seek and bang his point place or may be aid carry the reader a bit more because he his utilizing another type of authorization figure. What I found interesting about this peculiar quotation mark is that the justice could hold been noticing on offense in general, non merely the decease punishment To follow this portion of the article he throws in the fact that the decease punishment is inordinately expensive. Which I believe was the best and most true portion of this article. With the research that I went through I did happen that even most advocates of the Crumley 4 decease punishment did hold with this point. The decease punishment is really expensive. But, he throws in some cost that I seem to believe would be good. Such as more probe on the side of the prosecution. What he does non state you is that the prosecution needs more probe to acquire a decease punishment finding of fact. The following alleged fact Freedman presents to us is that the decease punishment rhenium duces public safety. That statement is non a fact. If that were true we would likely non hold the decease punishment. Does the judicial system truly desire to set people to decease bad plenty that they would put on the line other peoples lives? Then Freedman states that harmonizing to fiscal jobs New York can non purchase unassailable waistcoats for all of it peace officers. He is really stating that since the decease punishment costs so much it is a direct consequence on the protection of New York s constabulary officers. I believe there are many other factors that can be thrown into that equation. Anyway, have you considered the fact that non every constabulary officer is on responsibility? I have been told that most constabularies officers do non work 24 hours a twenty-four hours three hundred 60 five yearss a twelvemonth. Following Freedman uses the illustration of narcotics and intervention. And that some of the money being spent on the decease punishment could be used for handling these people who support themselves through offense. First of all I ask how many drug users would really set themselves into intervention? I mean after all if these people are so far hooked on drugs that they commit offenses to acquire them, so they likely do non care plenty to set themselves into rehab. Now Freedman presents another so called fact. He states, fundamentally that the Crumley 5 decease punishment is geared towards a peculiar group of people. If that were really true I believe the authorities would be hearing an ear full from the full population. After that great group of facts, Freedman gives the reader some statistics on racial favoritism. However, he did something a small different this clip and questioned his ain Numberss. He was right in stating that there are other factors that need to be taken into history with the figures he displayed. But I must oppugn two more things in this paragraph. First what surveies precisely addressed these issues? And if it were true that one of the major lending factors on whether person received a finding of fact of the decease was their race, I do non believe the justness system would go on to utilize capital penalty. The following variable that Freedman says that contributes to the punishment of the decease in income. He goes on and on about how hapless people can non acquire nice representation in capital instances. Let us look at this from another angle. There are non many attorneies around that accept capital instances. Like Freedman says the field is extremely specified. Besides, I had another expression at the FBI Uniform Crime Report, and it states that lower income groups tend to execute capital offenses. Then Freedman tries to compare the quality of capital slaying tests to that of felony instances. Well, a felony instance does non be near to every bit much as a capital slaying instance. Besides, most defence attorneies are prepared to support felonies a tad spot more than capital instances. The concluding variable that Freedman uses is that of mental disablement. He says that jurymans are more likely to set person to decease that has a mental disablement of some sort. Crumley 6 Now, if you look at the existent offense itself, one would hold to be a small screwed up to perpetrate a offense bad plenty to be tried as a capital instance. Earlier in the article Freedman uses Ted Bundy as an illustration. Why does he non utilize Bundy as an illustration now? May be it is because the name, Ted Bundy, automatically brings a idea of person who is earnestly disturbed and is likely considered by most a good receiver of the decease punishment. The concluding fact that Freedman uses is that finally the decease punishment will be inflicted on the inexperienced person. I would wish to get down with the word inexperienced person. Yes the jurisprudence states one is guiltless until proved guilty. However, the word inexperienced person will non be found in any test. A individual is either found guilty or non guilty. Yes, some people found guilty may non hold committed the offense. But there was adequate grounds for a jury to happen the individual guilty. And that works in contrary, some people are found non guilty because a jury was non presented with adequate grounds to convict. Now, the pick that Freedman makes here to finalise his statement with this is really good planned. He reminds the reader that decease is concluding and can non be reversed. This was a good thought to me because if the reader has non made up their head yet about whether they agree with the decease punishment or non this slightly slams his point place. Freeman so leads the reader into his decision. He restates all of his points to seek and farther carry the reader after his last statement that decease is concluding. This, to me, was a really cagey manner of helping his shutting statement. The last piece of information that I was able to delve into was that right after what seemed to be his summarisation. Freedman tried one last group of people to assist his Crumley 7 statement. And he used the Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association. He made certain to allow me cognize that it was full of people who are good versed in the judicial system. Now what he did non allow you cognize was that this peculiar subdivision of the NYSBA merely happens to be the 1 that deals specifically with the decease punishment and Constitutional rights. Every member of this subdivision are all oppositions of the decease punishment. In decision I would wish to state that at first sight this seemed to be a really good written and factual article. But after a little spot of delving I found this to non be true at all. Even though Mr. Freedman may be rather qualified in the ways of our judicial system he used many so called facts to seek and carry his audience. Brad Crumley
